A Day On Set At BritStudio: What Our Shoots Look Like

We run a tight ship! Shooting times can vary but we like to start at 8am, so we have the gorgeous sunlight to help light our sets! Once all “Staff On Shift”  have turned up at our location, we have a briefing from the Director who informs everyone of the schedule and plan for the day.

At any one time on set, we have at least one cinematographer, a director and the actors/actresses. Safety is our priority, so for each clip, we will confirm with all parties what they are comfortable with, and ensure that everyone has a fun time, our motto is “Don’t do anything you wouldn’t do at home!”.

Whilst all our “Staff On Shift” are getting ready with makeup and showers, the set, lights and sound are all being set up. We vary the lights we use depending on the scene, too much light, the set gets very hot and everything seems too bright, too little light and you won’t be able to see a thing!

Once everyone is ready and the lights and sound are ready too, the director will walk people through the scene. Sometimes people can get a little nervous, especially if it is their first time! So a quick run-through always helps to put nerves at ease. Then its “Lights, Camera, Action!”!

Whilst the filming is taking place, the director may guide people from behind the camera, sometimes the angle of action may be slightly wrong, or it may be time to change it up to a different position. But apart from that, have fun! That’s what this is all about after all!
